Guides & help
Atlessa Manufacturing tracks your raw materials and finished goods against a bill of materials, deducts materials as Shopify orders come in, shows how many units you can build, and syncs available stock back to Shopify so you never oversell. This page walks you through setup and the everyday tasks.
Getting started
- Connect your store. Install the app from Shopify. Atlessa reads your products, variants, costs, inventory levels, and orders — never your customers’ personal details.
- Bring in your catalog. Your Shopify products sync automatically. Add your raw materials and packaging under Catalog — by hand or with a CSV import (each importer has a “Download template” button).
- Set a bill of materials. For each product you make, open its BOM and list the materials and quantities one unit needs. This is what lets Atlessa compute buildable units and true cost.
- Receive your stock. Under Buy, record what you have on hand as receipts — quantity, unit cost, supplier, and (where it applies) a lot and control date.
- Make and sync. Start a production run under Make, close it when the batch is done, and Atlessa writes your available stock back to Shopify.
Core concepts
- Materials & packaging are the things you buy and consume. Products are the things you sell. All three live under Catalog.
- Bill of materials (BOM) is the recipe for one unit of a product: which materials, and how much of each.
- Buildable units is how many of a product you can make right now from the materials in stock — Atlessa keeps this current as stock and BOMs change.
- Lots & control dates track a specific batch of a material and its expiry, best-before, or use-by date. Stock is drawn oldest-first, and expired stock is held back.
- Production runs record what you actually made: the materials consumed, any waste, and the finished units produced — with their real cost.
- Stock write-back keeps Shopify’s available quantity in step with what you can actually fulfil, so you don’t oversell. Every write is checked and logged.
Everyday tasks
- Receive stock: Buy → Receive. Record quantity, unit cost, supplier, and a lot / control date where the material tracks one.
- Run production: Make → Start a run, move it to production to reserve the materials, then close it to record what was used and made.
- Assign lots to an order: from Orders, open an order and assign its lots — scan or pick them, then fulfil it in Shopify.
- Check the numbers: Reports for cost and margin; Stock → Ledger for a full audit trail of every movement.
How stock sync works
Atlessa never blindly overwrites Shopify. It computes what you can actually fulfil — finished units on hand, plus what your materials can build — and writes that back as the available quantity. Expired lots and finished goods still curing are held back automatically. Every write-back is recorded in Stock → Ledger, so you can always trace why a number changed.
